Note: The following tutorial is created to run on Windows XP. But it works on Windows Vista and Windows 7 most of the time! ;)
Note 2: Before any operation, set the classic menu item in the display and make sure you have the latest firmware v10D
1) Download everything you need (see link above) and install the Setup file
Driver 2 ) Extract the contents of "'LG-Utils" on the desktop
3) Install WinImage
4) Now you should have the file on the desktop "LG KP500.flb"
5) WARNING: Now move the file "LG KP500.flb" in the directory "C:". DO NOT MOVE IN ANY FOLDER (THE "SOFTWARE") BUT MUST APPEAR IN THE LIST OF FILE UNIT '"C"
6) Now you have to turn your cell and LG Cookie RIMUOTEVE THE BATTERY. If you do not, you could "brick" the phone rendering it useless.
7) Connect your phone to a computer's USB port. MAKE SURE YOUR PHONE IS OFF AND THE BATTERY HAS BEEN REMOVED!
8) Once the cell connected to the computer, Windows will recognize the device XP/Vista/7 and say "E 'found new hardware" and automatically install as "flash device"
9) After disconnecting the cell from the USB cable.
10) Restart your computer now.
11) Now open the program from the desktop "KP500-Utils.exe"
12) VERY IMPORTANT BUT NOT NECESSARY : make a copy of your phone and its CUST (the system folder of the cell) [If something goes wrong, you can retrieve your cell!]
To do so: Open-
"KP500-Utils.exe"
-D and then press ENTER
-type \\ \\. \\ USB1 and press ENTER
- Now I ask the "Sec-pack file": you type C: \\ and press ENTER KP500.flb
- You will be asked "DATA FILE": you type C: \\ CUST2 but Do not press ENTER
- Before you press ENTER, make sure the cell is switched off and no battery, the USB cable is connected to the computer but not with the phone
- Now quickly connect the USB cable to the cell, wait for Windows to recognize the device emitting a sound and press ENTER after the program.
- After a while, 'it should say "Open Port PLUG THE PHONE ..." and then "Sec-pack file sended"
wait-time and after a while' minutes have your backup. Then unplug the cell when KPutils LG has finished!
13) At this time you can send the issue to your cell! ;) To do so, continue with step 14 of the guide
14) Move (Or copy) the theme file (the file "Required") in the "C" where there is also the file "LG kp500.flb"
15) Open again "KP500-utils-En"
Press-C ENTER
after-write \\ \\. \\ USB1 and after-ENTER
Write C: \\ kp500.flb and after
ENTER - Type C: \\ THEME but do not press Enter yet!
16) Before you press ENTER, the cell connected quickly, wait until your PC recognizes the device (will sound the same as that sounds when you plug in a USB stick) and then press ENTER.
17) Wait until the program ends for about 10 minutes and here you have your new theme! ;)

5) WARNING: Now move the file "LG KP500.flb" in the directory "C:". DO NOT MOVE IN ANY FOLDER (THE "SOFTWARE") BUT MUST APPEAR IN THE LIST OF FILE UNIT '"C"

12) very important and fundamental: Make a copy of your phone and its CUST (the system folder of the cell) edit this file and if something goes wrong, you can retrieve your cell!
To do so: Open-
"KP500-Utils.exe"
-D and then press ENTER
-type \\ \\. \\
USB1 and press Enter - Now you ask the "Sec-pack file": you type C: \\ and press ENTER KP500.flb
- You will be asked "DATA FILE": you type C: \\ CUST2 but DO NOT press enter
- Before you press ENTER, make sure the cell is switched off and no battery, the USB cable is connected to the computer but not with the phone
- Now quickly connect the USB cable to the cell, wait for Windows to recognize the device emits a sound and press ENTER after the program.
NB: you must be extremely fast in this step, otherwise it will not start up. Try again until can not do it;)
- After a bit 'should say "Open Port PLUG THE PHONE ..." and then "Sec-pack file sended"
-Now wait a bit and after' of minutes you will have your backup. Then unplug the cell when KPutils LG has finished!
13) IMPORTANT: CUST2 Copy the file you just created on a flash drive or CD. You have to want: Just make sure you have many backups!
14) Now that you have your original CUST cell, we can begin to change the theme! Open WinImage and do File / Open and select the file CUST2. So you should appear to the left some folders including LGAPP.
15A) If you downloaded the theme My Combo THEME then go to step 19!
15B) If you downloaded the Theme or Italian Prada Prada then go on to point 16!
16) Estrate the file you downloaded and you should have a folder called DMF inside which there are other folders
17) PAY ATTENTION NOW! In this step, you give an example on how to change the theme!
ES: CUST in your folder is opened with WinImage DMF. In this folder there should be a folder topmenu . Here is the file itself TopMenu.dmf .
Delete these files!
After you go in the theme folder that you downloaded (ie DMF / topmenu ) and drag the file TopMenu.dmf present in it.
NOTE: basically you have to replace one by one the files which are in White DMF / DMF Black
18) After all the changes made to your phone, save the CUST2 open and rename it with WinImage THEME (no extension!)
19) Move (or copy) the file THEME folder "C:" where there is also the file "LG kp500.flb"
20) Open again "KP500-utils-En"
-Press ENTER after
-C and type \\ \\. \\ ENTER
USB1 and after-Write C: \\ kp500.flb and ENTER after
- Type C: \\ THEME but do not press Enter yet!
21) Before you press ENTER, the cell connected quickly, wait until your PC recognizes the device (will sound the same as that sounds when you plug in a USB stick) and then press ENTER.
22) Wait until the program ends for about 10 minutes and here you have your new theme! ;)
23) If the first time you try to send the issue with KP500-utils-En not appear and an error, try again until you perform the operation successfully! ;)
